The userid of Poster indicates that ItsMeCindi was one of the userids lost in the 'Great TBN & CBN disk crash of 2003'. Some, or all, of her messages are still in the database but the userid was lost.

What brand/kind of finish mower do you have? It usually takes me less than 5-10 minutes to hook mine up. The drive shaft of the mower rotates freely; I just turn a little at a time until the grooves line up and it slides right on. I keep a little greese on both shafts to help the sliding. Could it be that you have something (string, wire, vine, plastic, etc.) stuck on the shaft or shafts that keep them from rotating freely? Just asking....

I had the same problem with my shredder until I realized I was parking it where the blade would contact the ground or grass. Now I lift it up and hook up pto last if it gives me any trouble.
