Look out everyone I've learned how to post pictures. This is the adapter I was talking about in the post of the 299D. Since I have a new mulcher comming for the CTL I thought I would give this a try. I am mounting this on a Cat 315D, planning on installing the case drain to the excavator, the other hydraulics are already there. Does anyone know why this won't work?

Check the hydraulic flow on the 312 at the connecting point to insure they are the same as your CTL, if not you may have to change pulley sizes to suit. Other than that it should be a goer. :D

Everything you mentioned is good. Running it thru the auxuiliary valve, adding case drain. BUT you forget one thing. You were using the low flow aux circuit to run the door. To do this on the excavator you will have to either add an additional circuit, install a diverter valve to supply fluid to the door, or simply remove the door. I personally would remove it, and add cobra teeth, this should give a much better cut and negate the need for the door. And lastely yes check the flow. You should be getting 25 GPM with a max of 4400-4500 psi. You need to set the releifs for the mulcher circuit 500-600 psi under the machine system relief to not reduce machine function. I bet you will be very close to what the skid steer put out. Skid steer circuit was 33 pgm @ 4100 psi max. Skid steers are usually slightly less than advertised on flow and excavators slightly more. VERY good use of existing equipment. Keep us posted.

Tony, I am planning on taking it to my Cat dealer to get the hydraulics set up we should be able to match the CTL

Robbie,I was thinking about removing the door but thought if I could use it without to much trouble i"d keep it. I put the coupler in the middle of the unit so if needed I could switch directions of the chips, say along a road or woods close to a home. I did this on my rockhound 40EX for my mini. I typically run it with the motor towards the machine but there are times when I'm close to a guard rail that I turn it around to get closer the the railing.
I did have this mulcher on the 299D set @ 40gpm, that's when i began smiling. Who makes the cobra teeth? Thanks

Ramzee if u like the cobra teeth check out qaudco's teeth for the fae rotor I run them on the 140. In the pic below I have the qaudco carbides an chippers staggered on the drum. First time u order them u will have to get the holders an teeth but it's well worth it the chippers make a world of difference it's like getting into a different machine.

CAT, I couldn't agree with you more! Put them in the center of my 287C with HM 315 and was blown away at the difference. I can only imagine running them on a higher horse power machine. I wouldn't be afraid to say that my production rate was twice that of the somewhat dull hammers I replaced. Only bad thing is, it's terrible rocky in most of the areas I tend to work in. How do you like the Quadco carbide hammers ?

I Like the carbides so far, Jim Pyke with Qaudco said they were in the process of redesigning them to cut even better.
