Most Impressive!!!! I used to like to do WWII airplanes with battle damage to them before getting into trains and creating scenery for a setup that I had. Great way to pass the time and be creative. I've always thought I would enjoy getting back into it, but kind of doubt I ever will. Just one of those things I enjoy seeing, but I have too many other hobbies already.

Keep posting pics, I'm looking forward to seeing your progress. Do you have pics of what else you have done?

The model building took a real hit when they outlawed the glue we used to use!
And I always thought it was the model that gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling. :D

Not sure what glue was outlawed (if any) but this stuff will knock you down. This is what I use.

The ban may have been at the state level. I remember when they started locking up the Testers glue and you had to get an employee to get the glue. They also had a citrus based glue that smelled good but did not glue good.:laughing::laughing:

A friend's brother was a big glue huffer back in the early 70's but I don't think he was using Testers model glue. Course, now a days, paint is the big thing, especially GOLD paint since the huffers think it provides a better high which really goes to show how much the huffing has rotted their brains...

I loved the Tamiya models but they sure were expensive. They had great quality but they were around $16 where as the cheaper brands were around $8. Given my allowance and lawn cutting earning, a Tamiya model could take my monthly wages.

A guy opened a hobby store near my house when I was a kid and one day he had the big B52 model in stock for half of its usual price. I asked him why the price was so low and he said the price was marked lower at his supplier so he was passing on the difference. I already had a B52 "flying" over my bed but I could not resist buying the model. Ended up with TWO Buffs flying over the bed, one in SAC colors and the other with Vietnam camey colors.:laughing::laughing: They kinda looked out of place with the B25, B17, B24 and P61 "flying" around the room.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Later,
Dan

It is funny you as about others I have done. Only other model I have done and detailed like this is a replica of my AMC "Golden Eagle" Jeep CJ5 detailed to be all muddy otherwise I haven't built a model since I was about 14. I am not a "pro" modeler. For projects/hobbies I am usually restoring or fixing motorcycles and cars, you know toys you can actually drive. This (the Kenworth W900 model) is going to be a present for my dad with a display case that I will hand build as well.

Visit the links in the first post for way more pictures and updates. I should have more pictures soon and video. For now here are other pictures of my "craftsmanship" with other projects.
I filmed the whole process for a 13 episode web show

Barn Fresh restoration - Motorcycle How to and Repair

After: I did all the paint work myself as well. I don't hire anything done, just a little bit of the chrome work for obvious reasons. This bike is fairly rare as it is an early first year model built prior to some mid year changes.

A little performance build on a vintage bike. I did some extensive internal work on the engine for more performance, I also custom machined myself some parts for the internals of the suspension to make it work better. It is all documented on my website with videos.

As you can see the model is a change of pace from rusty bikes with engines that are stuck and fasteners that people have rounded off.

This is one resin molded kit by a hobbiest of an 8v92 that is for sale and it is even in 1/16th scale but $30 for just the engine was a little steep for me so I opted to at least paint the CAT engine in the silver symbolic of the Detroit "silver 92"

Cool thread. This has always been my favorite truck. Mostly, this is because of being a kid at the time when Movin On was on TV, and we watched every one of them. Love that truck!

Course that is also why F4U is my favorite plane; growing up watching Baa Baa Blacksheep...
