For me, I've found it to be allot more fun and exiting to help a person get an animals and share in their exitement, than to kill them myself.

Eddie, I can agree with this, I hunted lots as a kid, Deer, Elk, birds of all kinds, didn't care if I got anything or not, still don't care really, I just enjoy getting out and consider taking an animal as a huge bonus. I did read your profile so no where near as much as you have hunted or as many places. Then I took about a 15 year break from hunting just too busy and such, then started hunting again about 8 years ago. About 3 years ago I ran into a guy who had three 12-14 years old with him, I had just seen two does on a hill side five minutes earlier. So two of the boys came with me to try and get one or both does, the one kid took a shot at about 150 yards with his 30/30 and shot just in front of her. I think I had more adrenaline flowing than the kid. We could not find her again, but I ran into them later as they came into our camp to thank me for at least helping the kid get a shot at a deer. They then showed me to the bed of the truck, two does, the kid who missed had got one along with the other boy who stayed with the guy. All three were still on cloud nine and to I was as happy for them, as if I had shot some big 4 point buck (East coast people that would be a 8 point).

The HGTV dream home is kind of a local joke. It's very fancy, but also just about unlivable. The biggest idiot move in the design is the master bedroom is detached from the rest of the house. If you want to go to the house in winter, you will have to get dressed. I gets down into the teens here. Right now it's a hundred degrees out and high humidity. So your soaking with sweat if you want to go to your bedroom or the other way, into the house.
He's been trying to sell it, but so far, nobody wants it. He's doing a sealed bid thing and said he'd sell to the highest bidder. But when the date arrives, he doesn't have any bids. He had to refinance the house to pay his taxes and now he needs over a million dollars just to pay off his loan on the house and by the end of the year, he'll need another loan for the taxes.
Nope, it's not my home, nor would I want it. He should have sold it the day he won it.
Back to the hogs.
At 8pm tonight, there was a decent sized hog at the feeder. We had plenty of light, so Steph grabed the rifle and we started sneeking up on it. We hadn't gone ten yards, and it spooked. Just ran off at full speed. The wind was fine and we were far enough away that it shouldn't have been an issue.
We walked a little closer to the feeder, but mostly, we just watched and waited until dark. About 8:20, an HUGE hog walked out from the oposite direction the first one ran off. Did I say it was HUGE!!!!
We get real exited about the size of this thing. Just as we got to the tree line, a small hog showed up 50 yards away on the tree line too. It saw us when I saw it, then it took off. That's when Steph saw it. This was too close for her comfort, and totaly unexpected for her. IT SCARED HER.
She was pretty shook up, but no worries, the small hog spooked off the HUGE one when it took off.
Skunked again.
Then at 9:30pm, we went outside with the kids and the spotlight. The same three boars that we've been watching were there eating corn. Two good sized boars, and the monster.
Monster and Huge are two differnt hogs. Huge has short legs and is like a 50 gallon drum walking. Monster is more like a small beefmaster. He's got size all the way around. Tall, wide and heavy.
It's just getting more and more interesting around here.

Appears the same day you get the keys to the new house, the IRS is waiting at the front door to hand you the bill - what a joke. According to HGTV, the "dream" is when you sell the house, thus the "dream-house", and pocket the coin - all after taxes.
Kinda sad for some of these people that are looking forward to a nice new house but can't afford all the while those who run the contest didn't intend for them live in it. Pretty sad.

I mowed down some weeds today in an area that will give us a clear shot of the hogs and still be far enough away so we don't scare them off. We got into position kinda early, but Steph wanted time to practice aiming from the new position. Prone.
Just before dark, three hogs came out. One of them was the big boy!! She took her time and waited for him to stand broadside while eating. I couldn't tell one from the other, so it was all up to her.
It droped at the shot and layed there. But after a minute, it started kicking and almost just as fast, it was on it's feet and gone. They sure are fast!!!
We looked around real quick, but it was getting dark, so we went back to the house and got the spotlight, but still couldn't find him. After looking around in the open areas, I told her we'd call it a night and go look for him first thing in the morning.
If he's hit good, he will die during the night. If not, we'll probably never see him again. But we won't know anything until we find his tracks in the morning and see what happened.
She's extremely bummed right now. Repeating the same thing over and over again. "he went down, he went down, he went down" hahaha Poor girl.

I woke up early this morning eager to see if I could find a blood trail. I have no fear of wild animals that are healthy and behaving normally. This is a bit different. He's either wounded or dead. If he's wounded, it could get interesting.
I decided to carry my Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44mag. It has a 12 inch barrell and open sights wich I think would give me the best chances in the thick brush.
He was bleeding a fair amount, but it took some looking to stay on his trail. Once in the thick brush, it was slow going. When I found him, I shot first and then realized he was already dead. The coyotes had found him last night and gutted him.
The first picture is of Steph in postion waiting for them to show up at the feeder.
Secong picture is of me on the tractor. I tied a rope to the hog and draged it out of the jungle this way. It was hard enough just crawling through the vies and thorns to find him. Dragging him out was something I'd rather not do.
Third picture is of the hog and my little tractor as he came out of the bush.
Fourth picture is of Steph and her "Huge" boar!!! This is the picture you must see!!! He's easily an honest 250 pounds and probaby the second largest wild hog I've ever seen. Third for sure!!!! He's also bigger than any wild hog I've ever killed.
Fifth picture gives you an idea of how large his head is. It's massive!!! Tusks are visable, and for this area, they are quite large. Our hogs just don't get very good tusks.
She's one happy camper today and has been emailing her family pictures of it all morning. I've very proud of her to. She just continues to amaze me!!!
