It probably was. It had a V8 in it and I think it was a copy of the chevy small block.
In Europe, Opel is the GM brand and they use some GM engines. My wife wanted an Opel. I forget the model but it was one of their top of the line models with all the bells and whistles so I got one for her. When I opened the hood I was astonished to fine a Chevy "Stovebolt" straight 6 in it. But not just any "Stovebolt". Split manifold, dual exhaust, 4bbl carb....it was the old "Corvette" 6, and it was a screamer. I could get in the left lane on the autoban and run with the BMW's and all the other big boys with it.

Ford makes our own Aussie Falcons also. These are exported to NZ and places like that.
Several manufacturers manufacture here (from imported parts) but to my knowledge the "Big 2" Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore are the only 2 Aussie designed and built cars we have.
Mad Max - They were Ford Falcons. XB Model had the supercharger out of the bonnet. They ran 351 Clevelands in those days.
Ooooh - They were nice cars !!

Yes, I only ever had the one, in an XA Falcon.
I am craving for a new Falcon V8. They have a 5L Windsor derivative in them now.
But oh boy, they are one mean machine.........

You're right we are getting the Monaro badged as the new Pontiac GTO here come mid next year I beleive as a 2004 model. I hope they don't mess it up like Cadillac did with the Catera - a great car in Europe but when they did the US conversion they missed the boat.
Also what I recall the mid sizes are of the German Opel platform as well the sport utes and some smaller cars are Isuzu..
