Hole in my oil pan!

Are you sure you didn't run over a claymore?

I have to ask. What does the ICON of a stone through ones oil pan look like? I too, am dismayed by all the useless Icons in our modern life.

OUCH! So what is the plan to fix it? I think I would try to peen it with a hammer to close up the hole as much as possible, grind a little V to clean, and weld it. Do you have a buddy with a MIG?

Brazing?

Looks to be repairable, what shape was your magnet in?
I wish they would have used magnetic drain plugs.
The only magnet I have seen in my Branson so far was in the belly of the transmission, it was growing a lot of hair on the first hydraulic change.

On the 8050 there is a suction strainer held in by a bolt beside and below the pto,
and the transmission magnet is on a 4 bolt plate with an O-ring just a couple of inches behind the rear most drain plug.
So it was quite easy with the tractor drained and the screen removed to see it, then just 4 bolts to drop it out.
The bolt on plate was about 3"x3".

That's quite the slice! Are you sure you didn't lose a chunk of blade?

Well, if you don't manage to catch it like the OP did I think the icon for a hole in your oil pan would look something like: :dollarsign::dollarsign::dollarsign:

Honestly the icon is not that bad. Anyway, there are only 4 warning lights there: Oil pressure or lack of, Battery, glow plugs and parking brake.

Here is shot from mine:

I thought it used to be an oil can? Maybe no one knows what that is anymore, but that ICON is meaningless. It's time the English speaking world stick up for our most popular language and demand wrighting on our vehicles and electronics! "OIL PRESSURE" !!!!!! You can't take the time to label my machine in my language, I'm not interested! Having a horn or sounder for such things would be even better. A shut down option for unattended use would be good too. If you are mowing, you are NOT watching your idiot lights!

That is a feature I would even pay a little extra for. The money it could save you in engine damage would be well worth it.
