Hole in tractor seat

My 7 yr old son inadvertently poked a screwdriver through the seat on my new b7500. I don't know if the seats are plastic or vinyl. Has anyone ever patched their seat?

I guess that's a "whoops". I've never had to patch mine, but I'd say it's plastic or vinyl. There are patch kits for that; I'd probably try to find something intended for a (black) air mattress or something like that.

sorry about your mishap/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif don't be to hard on the lad. i would check out the auto parts stores, am sure they have patches in any color to repair uphostlery.

Many moons ago I used a glue from the auto parts store that was made to glue the edges of a tear in a plastic seat together. It worked extremely well. The repair was stronger than the surrounding material.
It came in a small squeeze tube. The procedure was to apply a small amount of glue along the tear and hold it together for a few minutes until the glue set up a little. Then let it sit overnight.

If the hole is where normal wear will likely increase it in size, patching it may make sense.

But what I've noticed is that time goes by so fast you'll value that hole as a reminder of when your guy was 7. You'll smile every time you see it.

A friend once put down some cherry flooring in his family room - a beautiful job he was quite proud of. One day his little guy very carefully put a row of about ten nails in it right in front of the sliding door - an unplanned decoration then but which now is cherished.

you can check with a local car dealership and ask them who they use for vinyl repair.

Don't worry, I can't be hard on him, because I don't know who's more excited with the new toy, him or me. It's a real treat to come home from work every day and have him waiting at the door asking if we can drive the tractor.

Took your advice and stopped by the auto parts store on the way home from work. Of course, they were "out" and suggested I stop back on Tuesday when the truck comes in. Ain't that always the way, they always have a lot of inventory, but never the item you need. Can't complain though, we live in a country where we can stop back by on Tuesday and have the means to purchase the item. God bless America.

Actually I had a pretty good sized stress crack in mine when I bought it. It was near the front corner on the side where you would normally board the tractor. The foam inside had separated some as well. I took a cheap kitchen sponge (they're pretty firm) and cut a wedge to fit the gap. I then took a wide piece of vinyl electrical tape and cut a large oval from it (the crack was over an inch long an a half inch wide). I stretched it pretty tight and smoothed it down. I thought it was amazing. That tape is pretty thin and you have to look close to find it. We'll see how long it holds up but it's easy to reapply. Try it. Easy enough to undo!
