That trailer does pull great. I currently have a 2001 Silverado 2500HD with the Duramax/Allison combo and love it. I have a couple thousand miles on the trailer already and am happy with the setup. Previously I was hauling Holly on a bumper pull car hauler type trailer, but she is close to the max of that trailer so I upgraded. I found a great deal on the gooseneck, and it is very heavy duty. It was custom built for me. I had them add the twin jacks (one is standard), locking tool/chain box, spare mounted on gooseneck, and a plate where I will eventually add a winch.

My truck is about 20 months old and I have over 50k on it, I love the diesel. Its the first diesel I have ever had. I have found that NAPA auto parts carrys a spin on filter for the Allison at about $18 Vs the dealers which are about double that here. If you have a Murrays auto parts here they carry the AC Pf2232 for about $3.50 a filter. The best deal I found before that was $11 plus shipping with the dealerships here at $15 each. The AC fuel filters can be ordered through Ginos Garage dot com. They are about $10 less even after the ship cost and they have been great on shipping fast. Also pulling that much weight you might want to consider that Allison?Kenworth repair centers now have Allison branded synthetic Trans fluid. I believe its called TranSynd but you can get more info on that at the Allison web site. Dave

Thanks for the info. I am due for a tranny fluid change in about 5,000 miles and was planning to go to synthetic. Although the Allison doesn't run hot even with Holly on the back, the only time it has cracked 200 degrees was in a traffic jam (a lot of stop and go). I was amazed at how well it does through the Smokie Mountains, and the grade braking is awesome.

If its over 90 degrees out mine hits close to 200. I can not justify the cost of the synthetic as My tractor and trailer together only weigh perhaps 2750 #. not enough to even break a sweat. I hit 50 k and changed the spin on filter and drained the pan. It takes 2 gallons or 8 qts to just refill the pan. The filter was full of small metal shaveings which I expected to see as Allison now has a new service bulletin out to chasnge the spin on filter the first time at 7,500 miles. I plan on just changeing the spin on filter every 10k from now on and draining the pan and re adding 2 gals of fresh dino. This only costs $40 with the filter from Napa. Dave
