I share my little home with six of these. Even police, who stop by twice a year as part of routine property checks, are reluctant to knock on my door. They can hear a chipmunk walking on pine needles at 100 paces. :). Bonus, the never ending line of people knocking on my door wanting to sell me something ended.

How does six motorcycles w/side cars help with security?;)
OH! The Shepard, I missed that.

The rumor around town is that I breed and train Rottweilers for guard dogs. Farthest from the truth, but I refuse to dispel that myth.

Nice, I wonder how I can get that reputation?

The woman that was renting the place (she has since moved on) asked if she could have a dog..I said sure, and went up to Thunder Bay for the summer for work. When I got back in the fall, there were 6 of them here. I was not happy and got out the rifle and told her she had exactly 5 days to get rid of 5 of them or I would start shooting. I did NOT shoot them, she rehomed them. I would not have shot them anyway. The dog catcher would have got them. She didn't have any of them licensed nor did she have a kennel license.

Anti-kick bars. These are added to doors to make the frame stronger and longer screws for the hinges.
Anti-smash film, you can buy it on ebay it makes it more difficult to smash in a window.
Dog, love our golden doodle. She is great with the family doesn't shed, but when her poodle kicks in shes a protector (Standard poodles were rated 9 out of the top ten watch dogs). Shes a big dog too (not an ankle biter).
Motion lights, harbor freight has them led solar powered light up the corners.
Leds around the house for instant on.
Game cameras. Get a few.
I heard of a product called the "Burgler Bomb" its a mace type product that will disperse in an area ie barn.

When my father was having memory issues and was no longer living in his house I set up several motion detectors. They were connected to things like lights that weren't close to the detector. Most thieves don't like lights at night or sounds during the day. I had one set up near the rear door that would turn a light on in the living room. I had a detector near the garage door that would turn on a vacuum and light in the kitchen. You're not going to stop everyone but if you can make them second guess themselves they usually move on to an easier target. I also had counters so I knew how often each one was tripped.

Alarm systems with multiple good loud sirens are the best. Being in this business, I have access to free monitoring that I did not even take advantage of this for years. I finally used it, just for FIRE. Police response is questionable, and besides they could care less about your property losses. Some buildings I don't even lock, just set the alarm. No one should be going in there anyway, and why have the added damage? Yes, it's true, I always hear, "they will get in if they want to". And the alarms will go off (making them deaf) when they do.

But just to be clear. Alarm companies make their money (as I do) on recurring monitoring revenue. Sirens cost time and money to install, and can lead a customer to question why they are paying for monitoring at all?

I once installed a local-only system in a farm house being rennovated. It had four external 30 watt sirens. The night after the appliances were delivered, the place got broken into. Nothing got taken and there were two skid marks in the driveway where someone had obviously left in a hurry. That was a good feeling!

We're fairly secluded but have 3 Jack Russel Terriers and one older grumpy Dalmatian. Since the house and out buildings are 900 feet off the road I have installed LED motion sensor lights along the driveway all the way to the house. We never leave equipment out when not using it and always lock things up at the end of the day.
If we are gone over night or for an extended time we have a house sitter who stays on board during the night time hours. When gone for any more than a day we notify our nearest neighbor too.

Humblebub is part of an elite motorcycle gang. Nobody's gonna screw with man on a British bike!

I love it, Fred

This camera works well also: The Tracker 2.0 with Infrared & Auto Tracking

Road Far Away 30 Zoom.jpg 30 times optical zoom. The road is 600 feet from the camera. The detail is incredible in the recorded data, unlike the not so great substream pictures I posted.

Road Close.jpg

The camera follows you around and zooms in on your car automatically. Then the dogs get you, Then if you get past the dogs licking your face my wife will wack you over the head with one of those cast iron frying pans, then if you live through that she'll cook you bacon and eggs!

Regards, Fred
