Home heating w/Pellet Stove

Hi,

We have had a Dovetec ( Now called Envirotec , London Ontario ) cornstove for 12 years now. AND LOVE IT!! My Aunt has a Pellet stove, and it seems to put out way less heat as compared to the corn stovve!! on the coldest of days we only use 1 hopper ( 55 pounds, 60 000 BTU ) in 24 hours!!! I wouldnt trade it for anything!!

The NG ones are nice and you "hit the nail..." on the reason. The wife said no way to wood since it makes he got nuts with headaches, eyes and nose etc. So we got this VC stove. It is not the best etc but I figure buy once and be done....


There was a wood burning stove when I bought the 1960 house (stove was 3 years old--I think federal too). At least that is what I remeber it says on the front. Nice stove with 3 chambers on top and looked brand new. I told my friend if you want it, come get it. Heavy little sucker. Nice stove and he got a nice stove for free.


The thing that kills me is the huge delta in price. I got it shipped to my house for free and the total for the stove, blower, remote, removable doors and screen were $560 LESS then my local guy! Plus the local guy had tax and delivery. I said at least match it, nope.

I know this, if we move this thing is coming with us! Plus if you look on the wall you see a heart shape. I told the wife that was for her /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif, but too bad I needed a design to hid my screwup!

How do you find out if your unit can do corn or not? I'm happy with the pellets but if corn is the magic you guys talk about then I want in also.

Some of the corn stoves accept all types of biomass and pellets - wood pellets, even cherry pits!
