so why im never one to poopoo someones hard work, and cool fab skiz makeing a FEL...

but you guys are bolting them on lawn tractors.... It boggles my mind why you would go to all the trouble to add something to a "tractor" that is SOOOOO underbuilt for it in the first place....

how long till you compleately crush/destroy/mangle/obliterate the front axles on these little things?

brings to mind projects like fitting 1 ton dump beds onto 1/2 ton pickup frames...

ya you can do it .... but you have to aks yourself it is really wise?

Lets ask Simplicity/Allis-Chalmers why they sold one to go on their tractors...

and how many with loaders are still around today?

(that which gets mangled and tore up usually winds up in the scrap heap long ago)

Schmism, I think you are unfamiliar with these type of machines, they are much more than a 'lawn tractor'.
Front axle upgrade is advisable, but not necessary.

I guess you could liken what you are saying to a farmer with a 300HP tractor asking why you would bolt a loader to a tractor as small and wimpy as yours (30HP CUT).

the simple answer would be....

durring the design of my small CUT, it was fully intended to come with a FEL so front axles, frames, attachment points were all designed to handle the increased weight, and stress that is put on those points/components.

the issue isnt the SIZE of the machine (BX line of kubota's are very capable)

the issue (in my mind) is spending a bunch of time, energy and money adding something that (in my mind) clearly (and grossly) exceeds the orginal expection of the use of the machine.

In my experience the above rarely ends well.

a phrase comes to mind "throwing good money after bad" (how many upgrades, how much time, how much money does one have to spent before hidsite says, boy starting with ______ would have beeen a much better choice) ;)

so again my point is this

Its clear to me in the above pics that the time and effort, fab skills, etc are worth applause, the perveribal pat on the back.

but as a Mechanical Engineer "outsider" looking in... I felt compelled to add my .02 of "yes you could, but is it really wise?"

Years ago there was a guy on this site, he made a loader for the back of his tractor. It basically used the 3pt lift arms, and the hydraulic link from the "top" portion of a TnT setup. Was inexpensive, and worked for basic stuff.

I was looking at it before I bought my loader. For me it was simpler and cheaper to get a dirt scoop till I could afford a front end loader. FWIW I put a Bushhog loader on my little Kubota.

All of the tractors in this thread had optional loaders, as your CUT does. Its just that loaders on GTs are less common.

I sold a CUT to get the tractor I have now, its a much better choice for me. I dont have this machine because I cant afford more, its becuase its a better machine for me, if I wanted to I could have CUT and make a loader for that.

I dont know how to show you that these are capable machines, you seem convinced that they are not. I'm lead to believe that you might not have much experience with such machines.

schmism -- I can't speak for the rest but my tractor was built to take a loader. Here is the add for a loader. My tractor is over 30 years old and I could not buy one for it from the factory.

Mith -- You are correct an axle upgrade may be necessary.

My point isnt to debate the capabilities of 30-40-50 year old tractors.

at the very least the discussion is good food for thought for the orginal poster.
