That spiral pump looks interesting. With some flow in the streambed to power it like a padle wheel, that looks like a no maintenance low head pump. the one they show a little ways down the page with an angled pipe and coil, dosn't even need a rotary joint.

A RAM pump is on my to do list. I bought the parts a year ago, but never assembled it yet. Lots of good data on the internet. I want to pump water to my garden or at least into barrels I can haul to my garden. I have heard they were very popular in the shenandoah valley.
