The ADT equipment is made by DSC (it's just re badged). DSC is good stuff, but the equipment and monitoring service are two separate parts to the puzzle. I installed a DSC system myself and rigged up a PC to monitor it and send email if there is an alarm. It also triggers a camera to start taking pictures and sends them to me. The system has the capability built in to make phone calls to a service, or it can call your pager, including text paging to your cell phone if you don't want to use a service. I did the PC monitoring only because the house has no phone.
