I have a GE 20kw whole house generator, it's 8 feet away from the house.. it's pretty quite.. I'm happy with it.. it almost a year old..

Welcome! Is your GE a Generac clone? GE doesn't build small gas motors, so usually a Kohler uses a Kohler Engine and a Generac uses a Generac engine which is pretty much a Vanguard clone perhaps with some minor enhancements. I know that Generac went into rebranding a few years ago.
My Generac 20kw was flawless and that's why I'm considering the latest 22kw version.

I know it's a Generac clone with a 5 year warranty. it's made with a BS engine.

generac enclosures are UL rated for installation 18" from house..... its LISTED. you can always place them further if you want. also propane co here wants 10' distance from tank and building codes require 5' min clearance from any opening into house.

ive services generac units 15 years old and still working great. if there maintained, they just keep working.

I purchased a Generac whole house unit Generac Guardian 22kW Standby I paid to have a 250 gallon propane tank and have it buried. Gas line piping, electrical circuit breaker box rewiring and a transfer switch. The installation was inspected and completed to code. It works flawlessly. Best $8000 I've ever spent. I can't power the entire house as we have 2 air conditions and I can't power the workshop. But when the power fails, (a total of 6 times this last summer). We have lights, the fridge, water from the well, freezer, air conditioning, washer and drier. The tank size was selected to provide me power for 9 days without a refill. I can safely say it paid for itself this last summer we actually received an apology letter from the power company because of the number of times we experienced power outages.

Considering whole house BU LP generator. ~22kw would work for me. If I might ask, what is a fair total amount, wright a check and done, for the generator, burried 250 tank, plumbing, electrical, etc? Thank you...

My uncle built a concrete block "Bunker" for his genset 25 years ago and it has worked out well... plenty of circulation and combustion air and it is not going to burn because even the roof is concrete with sod on top.

Sounds like he did a nice job on it.

that would be nearly impossible to set as a complete price. Ive now installed 16 of these units over the past few months, and everyone has been different. Different panel loads, some need load shedding, some dont. Some are close to power and gas, some need new tanks installed. Electrical hookup can take from 6 hours to 24 hours to install.

i can say the prices have ranged from $5,800 - 9,000 for a 22KW... complete.
