New toy, dji mini 3 pro, did a quick panoramic and stitch of home before I flew inside to thaw out, 7C, absolutely freezing by our standards.
Anyway, this is home

Nice! Just last night I had dinner with somebody who had spent three weeks in your country/continent, hunting and fishing with her BF. She had pictures of some nice fish they caught, and one of the 5 cape buffalo (?) which they took. Apparently they do so to thin the herd, and leave the animals for the predators to feed on.

How do you like the DJI mini 3 pro? I'm researching drones now and have mostly decided on the DJI Mavic Air 2.

I have one of the first Mavics which has been good until recently, the drone and controller have a communication problem, this one has the full controller which was an option and I don't need a phone, start up is faster and easier and navigating the functions is also easier, very light but not flimsy, fairly quiet by drone standards.
I have only had it a day but pleased with the image quality which has taken a hiding here with the reduction, a few panoramic modes and landscape or Portrait mode which I will probably never use.
I got the small flymore pack, 2 batteries, carry case, props and a few other bits, there is a bigger one with bigger batteries but given I have never flown more than 15 minutes I didn't see the point.
Can tell you more when I use it more

Nice picture and you are so green. Here today 102F - 39C and everything is dead and tan.

Looks peaceful.

i had to read that twice :)

referring to the landscape, not the poster's experience - LOL

i think drones can be fun. Not on my list yet.

A green landscape is so obvious to us around here. We are in the middle of summer - extreme heat - almost 100% of the vegetation has withered away and is tan.

I had a drone fly over two years ago. It was heading due west. I'll just bet it had gone beyond the range of the owners control box. About 250 feet above the ground - just kept going until completely out of sight.

This has a range of 12km, according to DJI, I took it to the back boundary which is about 1.5km, not ssure I would want to go further, 250' I can't see or hear it, big brother is watching, I know they look for illegal 'plantations' with them.

i own a air 2, you can hear it coming from 1000 feet away if your even remotely listening for it. they aren't remotely silent.

I have a Mavic Pro, that really makes a noise, this is silent in comparison.

The better drones, such as DJI, have an automatic Return To Base function if they lose the control signal. A BIG safety factor.

Don't ask me how many times I have used that feature. just make sure your return height is set correctly!!!

I would not buy for a while. If you buy a new dji, I would wait until they came out equipped with built-in remote Id - FAA mandated to go into effect Oct 2023, I think.

A side note to that is that the dji mini is under the weight limit and will not need the remote ID provision.

Nice Picture. It does look peaceful.

After doing more research, I am now thinking I may be better getting the Mini 3 Pro. Anything to add before I order?

I ended up getting a DJI Mini 3 Pro. So far it seems to do what I need. It is small and quiet. It takes good videos and images. Below is a pic I took on a job we are working on.

The mini 2 and 3 are under the 255 gram weight limit and don't need to worry about the remote ID law in 2023. They are a good drone.

I was not aware of this new "remote ID" requirement. Does that only apply to new drones, or are older ones going to be illegal?
