A while ago I made up a 55g drum and a spray bar. (55g drum with tapped bung and shutoff valve.. )It worked fine on a carry all.. or in the back of a utility trailer so that my wife can pull it around the property in her truck.. etc.

Obviously I don't have this rig permanently mounted to a 3pt setup yet.. which is what I originally planned.. but I got to thinking the other day.. what about a front mount spray rig.. set the barell in the loader bucket and then strap it in.. if the bucket is big enough cradle it, then curl bucket so drain port is down.. or on a small bucket, stand the drum up so the drain port is down, and then hang the spray bar from the loader bucket.. either just under the bucket.. or out to one side.

Anyone else do this?

You fixin' to spray chemicals? (pesticides, fertilizers, ect) Or is the plan to water down dusty areas?

All things being equal, I'd prefer chemical applications to be BEHIND me if at all possible. Most spray will drop immediately, but some mist will remain in air for a minute or so. Watering would be fine on the front end, with the advantage of being able to see what's going on without looking back.

I was thinking more of watering, or liquid fertalizer application. There is no pump in the system.. so it is just gravity feed.. thus no 'spraying'.. just a piece of pvc with holed drilled down the length.. I used different sized holes at the far end so that the 'dribble' was more even side to side.

While im shure it would work, seems like a lot of work to go though for temp mount that you would use how often? (i get the impression fairly often)

so why not just spend a few min and work up the 3point version. then its back up connect it and your off. none of this strap it down, hang the bar on, connect the hoses bla bla bla

I guess that is an excuse to use my new stick welder.. Hmm....

I agree with the others as I don't think a sprayer in the front would be the most prudent position. Yes it would work, and yes it would be easy to see, but if you were temped to use poisons you would be more apt to get some over-spray back in your face sooner or later. A chemical suit might help.

Right now I'de like to use one for watering. Front or rear, anyone know of a elec. sol. valve to turn in on and off with full flow cheap, so I don't have to get off and on?

Tee Jet sells a 12 vdc solenoid for about 60 bucks. Pretty sure TSC will stock it too.

Went to Home Depot today to find a 3/4 dump valve. The only one's they had were 24 volt. Will 12 volts trigger them, or is there a certain brand or store you've seen them? Priced around 12.95 I'de use one on a homemade sprayer too. Seems like a good idea.
