Homelite Splitter or DR Rapid-fire K10

I like the speed. But working on my knees would not work! I'd mount it on a table so you can stand and the table can catch the split wood. You can split indoors which is a plus over a gas one.

Wow  I make a "geriatric day" of it with the "Homelite" moving the whole process slow, but sure  This unit seems really functional.

I see the DR unit also is sold as a Generac. Who is actually making them?

I believe Generac bought out DR Power. These are made in China. Not sure if their more expensive gas powered ones are made in China as well. But these are and they put the DR/Generac name on them to let me/us customers know they will back it up should something go wrong. I have heard DR customer service is really good and will address issues quickly.

I need to build a little pallets table or something. A lot of people who own these have done some sort of home made bench for them. I just got this so I am more interested in testing at the moment vs finding a permanent solution for it.

It is heavy but I can move it and even when I use all my might (which isn't much) I can get it up in the truck. The front end loader makes it even easier. Took it to a friends house this evening and we busted up about a 1/2 cord of rounds in his garage while watching the playoffs. So far everyone who has seen it operate has been impressed.

One thing to watch out for and I knew it would happen by basically reading every review and or post about this unit before purchasing was the ram rod getting stuck on its way back in. You can tap it and it will go back but it seems there are a few folks who have fond the best permanent solution is to add a washer on some bolts that are already there and that stops to form doing that for good. The manual just says to make sure she's greased up real good....I will just add the warshers this week and that widens the gap on the rail and lowers resistance for the trip back in on its return stroke..

Good to know in case I get one. They look handy for the small/medium stuff
