Finally got around to my homemade concrete barrel.
I started with a 30 gallon barrel and 10 60lb bags of concrete. Had about 4 feet of chicken wire that i wrapped up and set in barrel. I ran drawbar through the wire.
Also had 2 2ft pieces of rebar bent in a v, through the holes on the drawbar. When i placed the toplink, i ran a 4ft piece of rebar, bent in a v, though the bottom hole in toplink.
When it finally dries, should be solid as a rock. The chicken wire was probably overkill, but what the ****.
Had a 2ft piece of pvc that i melted and flattened and pushed through the bottom of the barrel. I then placed a chainsaw bar scabbard down in the pvc to hold my chainsaw. I didn't even think of lining the scabbard up with the toplink until after i poured concrete. Oh well, too late now.
Here's a few pics, will look better when i paint it. 20190524_151834.jpeg20190524_151908.jpeg20190524_154118.jpeg20190524_154124.jpeg20190524_184720.jpeg20190524_184727.jpeg

Someone gave me the barrel, so the only thing i bought was the concrete and the 3 small pieces of rebar. I used about 9.5 bags, so should give me 600lbs

Finally got it on the tractor and took it for a spin. Still need to pull some tape and clean up the top rim/edge. I liked the way the chainsaw holder came, just wished i had centered it with the toplink.
Now, maybe, some orange paint. 20190526_192156.jpeg20190526_192209.jpeg20190526_192218.jpeg20190526_192307.jpeg20190526_192319.jpeg20190526_192344.jpeg20190526_192352.jpeg

Cleaver idea with the saw scabbard. Space on top for chain or tools.
1981 made something similar with a hot water heater tank for 2wd
Tractor for loader and logging work. Had more steel inside and piece of Rail road rail sticking up to wrap chain around. Pulling logs could vary the attachment point with the 3pt lift for traction. Could drag on ground if needed for stability. Snaked lots of timber out of the woods.
