Rear Blade Homemade gauge wheel for rear blade. Will this work?

I spent quite a bit of time looking for good caster assemblies for my box blade this year and found very little to choose from. Wound up designing my own with 20 10 10 tires and wheels. For a lighter blade some of the snaller tire/wheel combinations for lawn tractor front axles should work for you.

wsc9tt:

Have you priced Land Pride factory gauge wheels available for your blade? It would be worthwhile making a telephone call before getting into this project.

As I have read through this thread and researched a bit in the T-B-N archive, I am struck by how little savings most at-home builders have relative to factory assemblies.

That is certainly a valid question.

Here is the parts catalog for this blade, which has been discontinued.
http://www.landpride.com/ari/attach/lp/public/manuals/301-206p.pdf

The blade assembly is part number 300-014A.

With google I find these options:

$526
Error

$540
Error

(and similar in many other places)

I am pretty sure I can have this old guy down the road weld me together some solution for around $100 + parts. So around $200? But I am now favoring the solution that looks like the factory wheel or the one in that other thread. I just need to find a good wheel to use.

A little late to the party here, but here's my 2 cents worth. First, don't buy casters with 10" pneumatic tires from HF or Northern. I built a low slung dolly for my snow plow (total wt. about 800 lbs.) so I could store it in the back yard. I wrecked two sets of casters, one 10" & one 12"; they are junk! Secondly, on the cost of home built vs store bought, I recently bought a 6' rake from TSC and wanted gauge wheels for it. TSC's price was kind of high, so I searched online and found a set made by Tarter for this rake for $185 from Rural King. I also have a 4' rake from Craftsman which mounts on a sleeve hitch for Craftsman garden tracters. I would like to adapt this to a 3 pt setup and will be looking for a way to use the same gauge wheels on both rakes.
