Forgot to mention the pallet forks. They worked fantastic. I got them as used rental units and fixed them up. $450 was a steal imo. Only issue was they're rated for around 4k lbs. So they weigh upwards of 350lbs I believe.
I was going to sell them and buy something lighter before I decided to do the next best thing. Buy a bigger tractor instead haha

It seems like they'd be very handy for moving stuff around the property. I imagine with the weight of the forks and the limits of your 855 loader, you were pretty limited on how much you could lift. Did it handle lifting a pallet tote full of hardwood fairly well? I really like that idea for moving firewood around.

The 855 had good capacity for its size, but would not lift a full crate. That was one of the reasons for the new tractor

I'm on the fence between ssqa mounting my truck snow plow to my FEL or building a tractor frame mounted bracket for the plow. I like the idea of not having to remove the FEL, but fear that it may not work as well as a frame mount. I see people argue both ways. As someone who has experience with a tractor roughly the size of mine, how did you feel it performed?

I sold the SSQA plow because it was just too much for the 855. It was larger than the craigslist ad said it was, but the price was right. I used the snow blower or back blade and bucket with that tractor. I built a snowpusher for the LS that works well.

I know this is an old thread but as a recent owner of a JD855 I found this very interesting. The OP did a remarkable job of improving this little machine.

I also need to move firewood and will be using a TSC carry all to lift cut down pallets with the 3 pt hitch. The FEL will not lift nearly as much and I am stuck with clamp on pallet forks which make it even worse.

I wish I had 10% of the talent and skills of the OP. Again, great job!!
