Nomad, the advice was for vendors....that they not try to sell their own goods by berating other vendors' goods. Of course most of us aren't vendors and aren't trying to sell anything. The whole purpose of this forum is for us as individuals to share our experience with particular products, both good and bad, with each other. This is very different from speaking ill of someone (or their product) in order to make a sale.

As individuals we are doing a service to each other by sharing our experiences. Vendors "sharing" negative experiences with others' products is simply not credible. If your friend told you that his Toyota automobile had lots of problems, would you listen to him? Probably. How about if the Ford dealer told you the same thing? Not a chance! If the Ford dealer wants to come across as honest and sell you a car, he is better off telling you about how good his car is, not how bad the Toyota down the road is. That is the point that was made in the other thread.

Nomad:

I really only get confused if baffled by obfusication. Then there's the cases of fence straddling and conflicting statements???

But perhaps there is a glimmer starting on the understanding.

Got to get one of those rags only Pariesians can appreciate after sampling the third racking.

I know, Scrinch. Most of the folks here on TBN are not vendors and no problem when end users talk bad about a certain product. But whats happening here is these end users want to hear their opinions of a seller about a product of another seller because there are many-not-much-knowledgable end users here on TBN. How should that seller who is asked about another product answer their questions about that another product? For ex., should Sweet answer a question asked by a user about "Homier tiller" like that "well, my tiller is very good, etc etc"? How can you expect him to answer such a question "well, Homier is very good" even if really so. He won't say that even if this is a truth. Again, he is not permitted (in another thread) to talk bad about the product of another seller (CCM) even that product isn't good. Now, this is a paradox. You a seller do NOT WANT to say "good" about another product and you WILL NOT be permitted to say "bad". Keep silence? But he was asked a question!. Poor sellers.

I'm afraid you still misunderstand what has been said. It's true that I don't think it's a good sales tactic to talk bad even about your competition's product, but that's not the main thrust of the previous discussion to which you refer. It's personal attacks on the competitor, not on his products that is such a turn off for potential customers.

I just missed your reply. So, is any dealer out there allowed to talk about a product/s of his/her competitor? Then, we can hear from them somethings about Homier products. To my observations for some years here and there, the first and the most important criteria for the big majority of buyers is "the price" and their prices of Homiers' aren't bad.

yes the product is maybe cheap but it is not good quality i think for you it isn't matter that the machine is poor quality for you money is important.

Often wondered if a good quality rod made any difference when playing a fish.

My dad did more fishing and caught more fish than anyone I knew. He also had more fishing equipment than just about anyone I knew, but it was usually some of the cheapest, junkiest stuff I ever saw. He always said, "Those fish can't see what kind of rod I have in my hand." /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Sounds a lot like my Dad. Fishing was a major necessity of life. He also never had top line equipment although it was well within his reach. Caught a lotta fish too.
