Good to have you aboard. I am unable to assist you with your inquiry, but hopefully another member can. :tractor:

Our honda generators at work will do this. Supposedly if you leave the gas on with the tank being above the motor and it being a overhead valve the gas will seep into the oil causing them to mix. If we shut the gas off after use no problems.

The overhead tank ios not the problem, cause the fuel has to pass the carburettor before it will reach the cylinder.

I would take a look at the flood in carb, maybe theres is a hole in it and it cannott swimm to close the needlevalve. This valve is gummed at its peak, also the gum can be wornout and the valve will not close.

I am wondering about oil at the top of the piston. That would mean, that there are some probs with the piston rings.

The raw gasoline leaks into the crankcase, and raises the level with diluted oil. Pull the oil fill plug and check the level. It is best to cut off the fuel and let the carb empty itself as the engine burns the last bit. gum can still form in the bottom of the bowl. Thanks to ethanol, more gumming....

No. This Problem is only known by B&S engines with horizontal Cylinder and only, if the outlet valve is opendend. The needle valve didnエt close for any reasons, the carb will be flooded over and the gas getエs in to the crankcase. If this happen, it will cause thinner and more oil in the crankcase, but it will not flood the whole cylinder.
