Honda GX140/GX160 Oil Alert Engines

Ok Guys - What's the easiest way to bypass the oil alert engine start isolator when it fails on Honda GX140/GX160 engines ? We normally disconnect the yellow wire but is there a better way?

Good day. With all the equipment you have,you ought to stock up a few of these, I think they're about ten bucks here, but maybe three times that there, sorry.
I think a working low oil sensor is a worthwhile to fix and keep operational. But then that isn't likely what you are asking, the sucker dies on you out in the middle of nowhere,
and how do you get it running. All I'm suggesting is that next time in the shop, put a new sensor back on. Those are such good engines be a pity to run it without oil.

I was zero help to you, sorry. If unhooking one wire works until the unit could be fixed, sounds like you're on top of your game already.

Thanks - yes we run a heap of these as they're generally a very reliable easy starting motor.

So far never lost one through low oil - trouble is we use some of the Honda's on crtical applications like portable fire pumps & when the oil sensors die it's usually at the most inopportune time ..................hence curious as to what others do to resolve/bypass the oil alert "failsafe"

If you unplug the wire coming from the side of the block/sensor it can't get the shut down signal. If the problem is some where else you can dis connect the black wire coming from the coil. Then there is no shut off.
While the Low Shut Down is a great item I have 25-30 8hp , 11hp and 13hp Honda engines that the sensor didn't work and the engines threw rods. I can only figure that the engines were not level and the sensors (a float) stuck.
These engines are $700. to $800. each list price. I quit repairing them for customers because they would be back in 3-6 months blown again wanting me to warranty them!

Looks like the best solution is then to wire in an over ride switch (probably to isloate the black coil wire) to bypass the low oil sensor & to be used in an emergency on our portable fire pumps - we should hopefully now avoid he "thrill" of being at a fire front & have one of the Honda's fail to start because of the oil sensor playing up.............
