Hello Alan.
Indeed mother nature sent harsh reminder last winter, but the more she try her best to sour my attitdue the Kubota made life easier to face cabin fever.

Hope you and the family are doing well, and you folks up there will see a lot more sun than rain drops of late.

Congratulations, that has got to be a good feeling. I am looking forward to it myself in a few years.

Harv, you are going to put pictures of your pergola up in "Projects" aren't you?

Hopefully we'll be almost done by tomorrow. I'll probably put together something up there. After all, I used the tractor to go into the woods and drag out the logs, load them onto the trailer, set them up for peeling, and then loading them back onto the trailer for transport to the jobsite.

But I do wish I could have used the tractor to get them from the trailer to the backyard. That was tough on a sixty year old let me tell you.....

Heck Jim, I thought you had THE nest on the ground....

Yeah, I did. . .but I noticed they were strapping me to the stake and setting the nest on fire. And I've already noticed that this retirement "nest" is very comfy.:D

I was looking at the pictures Bobby posted of you bending over, drilling holes, building forms, and pouring concrete. I don't know how you do it. I think what amazes me most about you is your physical stamina.

LBrown59: Thanks for making me smile.:)

Congradulations Jinman. I am aiming to retire this coming March. I'll be sixty. Most people sell the farm and move to Arizona, well I 'm going to leave Arizona after being here 26 years and I've already bought a farm in Kentucky. My retirement will be raising cattle and growing hay. Never said that I didn't like to work, just tired of working where I'm at. After awhile us dinosaurs just don't fit.

Jim, I get my get up and go from the young guys who always seem to be around when work needs to get done. I can't let them get too much up on me.

The pergola client told my wife my problem was I still think I'm eighteen.......

I've only gotten sun sick one day in this streak of hundred plus days. I felt it coming on and laid off for an hour or so and weathered it out just fine.

"The pergola client told my wife my problem was I still think I'm eighteen......."

As they say:

"You're never too old to have a happy childhood!"

Keep on thinking you're eighteen, it works for me too.

Every once in a while my aged body tries to duplicate the thoughts of an 18 teen year old. Several or More days in the recover stage I realize that all this talk of acting young is merely wishfully thinking!!:D :D :D

My rule is: Body feeling old always trumps mind feeling young.

I didn't plan it this way, but it seems I am now amongst the retired TBN crowd.:D:D:D I'm so happy, I'm almost beside myself. This morning I got up and don't have to drive 70 miles to be miserable for 8 hours, and 70 miles back home feeling like I've taken a beating all day long. Last Friday, I went to work and resigned on the spot. Whew! What a relief. The only good thing about that place was the salary and a lot of the folks I worked with. No salary is worth killing myself with stress, and those coworkers will always be my friends.

My finances are in order and I will probably see if I can't find something to do locally to supplement my retirement anyhow. I can't apply for Social Security for another year at age 62. If I find something I like, I may work until I'm 66 before applying for SS. My local school district needs school bus drivers, so I just may do that. Driving a bus in rural areas should be fun.

This is gonna be fun!:)

Good Afternoon Jim,
I missed this thread  havent been doing a lot of reading on here as of late !

Thats great news, and well deserved Im sure ! You will enjoy it for sure ! I wish I only had 1 more year before collecting SS ! ;)

If you decide to drive the school bus, make sure you let them know who the boss is on the first day, and keep it that way ! ;)

Enjoy that extra seat time ! :)
