I'll go along with Jeff. I got Ken's hooks and they're great. If you do your own you should probably put a plate inside the bucket as well as one outside to add extra strength.

Did I say I'm cheap?
I modified a standard 3/8 hook* and welded it onto 3 x 4 1/4plate and then the plates onto my bucket center.
That was like 12 years ago.
More than a few times I kind of 'tested' the hook as I actually have raised the tractor rear end off of the ground! (and I have a ballast weight as well as my tires are loaded).
Total cost was one chain hook, a cut off disk and probably 2 welding rods and 1/2 hour.

* local stores could not supply 'weldable hooks'.
also a 3/8 can handle 5/16 chain.

I sort of did my own thing.... I could make these for about 1/3 the cost of "other" options...

About 2 feet of 2 X 1/4 inch angle iron, 6 bolts (grade 8), 6 nuts, 12 flat washers, 6 lock washers...

so ---- is bolting the preferred method ? this Kubota 525 bucket is 2 layers thick, will I be able to drill it or ask Ken ?

BTW love the slits never thought of that.

I was planning on adding hooks to my bucket but once I put the grapple on I hardly ever us the bucket it seems. Have only had it on once to move some dirt since then so decided not to worry about hooks. With the grapple I can just run a chain through and use it. Moved a couple of new shooting benches into place that way and it worked fine.

Q: What if the top of my bucket is double-walled?
A #1: Some heavy duty buckets have a double wall construction on the top, and bolting hooks to them could damage the bucket by compressing the wall’s together, and you would not be able to properly torque the bolts. If you have this type of bucket construction, then these hooks may not be the best option and you should consider having the hooks welded on.

In summery, KBOGH/BoltOnHooks LLC does not recommend or endorse the use of the bolt on products for these heavy duty, double walled style buckets.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention

I did bolt on because If I sell tractor new owner may not want them, and my welding is not quite professional grade, but they do not fail (yet)...
