Is there such a thing as hooks that i can weld to the top of my bucket that are made just for that? Or, do i just find any ordinary hook and hold it upright and weld it on? (TC24DA)

Many people here have done just that, bought hooks and welded them on. If you have a New Holland bucket though I think I would weld something on the back of the top of the bucket to strengthen it some. I want to put some hooks on mine but just haven't gotten around to it.

These hooks are made for adding to a recovery vehicle/tow truck. They are what I got and worked out great. Nice surface to weld right to your bucket.

Jerry,

What size did you buy? And did you buy them for your TC18?

As inspector said, those weld on grab hooks are your best bet. Otherwise, you end up having to cut the pin on hooks to get them welded on; or just weld them on as is and end up with a crappy looking (and weaker) hook. Here is a pic of those same hooks from AW Direct welded on my bucket.

gregp, the AW Direct hooks are a good bet. If your TC24 bucket is like mine, it has a 2" square steel tube welded under the upper lip as reinforcement for the upper lip, I don't see any reason to put additional reinforcement under in place under the hooks. I don't have them welded on, but I just got a new welder so its on my "to do" list.

I will add a bit of a disclaimer on the upper lip bucket strength, I know there are at least 2 different buckets available for the TC24 so if yours is lighter than mine then perhaps it would be a good idea to put in some reinforcement.

EDIT :: Mine is the 54" bucket.

Bob,
My bucket must be like yours. I have the 2" square tube as well. Mine is a 54" bucket.

I prefer tow hooks. Bolt on. I keep two 10 foot chains with grab hooks, loop them through the hooks on the bucket, then loop them around whatever I'm trying to lift and hook back onto itself with the grab hooks.

See attached photo of hooks.
