Here's some pictures of the install, including the keyhole grab links that I got from Bailey's:

I like the way my dealer mounts hooks with angle iron for reinforcement:

I just put bolt on hooks on my bucket this afternoon - very similar to Damifino's installation. They are in line with the bucket cylinders (thanks kennyd). With a pair of "chain saddle grab links" (Google for image) it should be a very adaptable arrangement.

I did the same thing, thanks for the chain saddle grab link idea :)

My new B3030 with three weld-on hooks and square reinforcement across the upper bucket lip. Dealer installed with me furnishing the hooks.

I have three grab hooks on another bucket, so did the same with the Kubota.

I bought a set of bolt on hooks at northern tool, item # 14160, easy to install and I beleive they are rated 10,000lbs each.

Do you think that 10,000lb rating will keep up with the load capacity of your FEL??? :)

Here's another option that also reinforces the top of the bucket. (I did this to my loader before I learned how to weld). Take a 3-4 foot peice of 3 inch heave angle iron and cut three slots in one side of the angle. One in the middle and one at each end. Drill and bolt the angle iron to the bucket top with the slots vertical. They hold chain like a "chain dog," just slip the chain in the slot. No way I can bend my bucket with this set up.

After reading your posts. I have a kubota l3000 with a 450 loader. i set up some forks on the cheap. i needed a way to lift shingles onto scaffolding. I used a "carry all" for the forks and used a cast "I" hook in the middle of the bucket to hook onto the top link connection of the carry all. The carry all would swing so I welded a 3"x"3 piece of angle iron on the bottom of the carry so it rests under the bucket. It works for what I needed it for. Besides I found I could only lift about 3 bundles of shingles (250 lbs)before the bucket stopped lifting.

just got a bx24 last night and put on about 2 hours on it moving dirt with it.
its a nice machine.
got a tooth bar on fel bucket and was thinking would it be ok to mount bolt on hooks on the bolts of bar on the out side of bucket .

Do a search on "bucket buddy" in the John Deere forum for a slick alternative to the hooks.

Kenny, those are perfect! I will probably order one or two very soon.

Egon, you mentioned just using chain. That's a good solution too if you only plan to use chains for lifting. I've got straps that I use too and the D-rings work well for that.

If I get a couple of Ken's hooks I'll be covered for anything!

Ken, just ordered two. I've got a fresh can of Kubota orange paint to paint them with. Of course, there isn't much Kubota orange paint left on my bucket so they are going to look a little conspicuous.

Your hooks are 5/16? can they be used with 3/8 chain?

JB

Hmmm. I didn't think about that. I think my two good chains are 3/8. No big deal. The big ones stay in my truck. I can get some 5/16 chain for lifting purposes.

Kenny, glad to see your up and running

Probably not. These are geared towards SCUT's and CUT's and 3/8" chain is just way overkill for these sized tractors. Who knows what the future holds though...

Thanks George, they will ship out tomorrow.

Ken, I just placed them on next payday list to buy. Just what I 've been lookin' for.

Gotta expand the line :),
I think 3/8 is the most popular size chain but yeah it is overkill for most of us.

Don't quote me but I THINK those hooks can be used with 3/8 chain.
I usually buy 3/8 weld on hooks, but one time I got a smaller one and I THINK it said it was for both 5/16 and 3/8. It's definitely smaller than the 3/8 hook, but it will grab the 3/8 chain.
