Part of why I love the winter is just what you said. Once I'm done clearing the driveway, chopping the firewood, shovelling the sidewalks....I can go inside and sit by the wood stove, have a nice cup of hot anything and enjoy the cozy comforts of home. I must admit though that I completely left out the wind from my "I love winter" speech!!!/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif If it is windy I just stay inside. I really do not like wind!!!

That would be a good call Richard!! /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif I grew up on a large acreage with chickens and turkeys which are indoors and I'm sure tending to horses and cows in miserable winter conditions must be very harsh!

Although I must add that I honestly don't mind cold weather as long as I can dress for it. Good boots, gloves, headgear, a decent pair of insulated coveralls and all the required long undies....and I'm good to go!!

Plus I'm hoping for more snow not just for more tractor time! It's been so dry here the last couple of years that we NEED the moisture. Doesn't hurt if you're trying to do a little snowmobiling too /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif.

You're right Thomas, I forgot about that! I guess I try to push the "Joy of Mud" out of my mind every year. It's just something we have to put up with in order to get to REAL spring. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Oh my god Cowboydoc...

I will "never" forget my undergraduate years being a laborer on an Iowa dairy farm. One morning I was trying to load silage into a wagon out at the pit silo. The loader on the 8N would just barely move. It was taking me forever to get the wagon loaded. Finally I got it done and went and filled the bunk. I noticed that I was getting slower too. Arms and legs would hardly move. Went into the milking parlor and heard the radio announcer say it was 35 below zero with a 15 mph wind. Absolutely brutal winters but somehow we got through it!

Better get out of Iowa!

DOC: think about what you be saying? with out your tractor u would not have found tbn, but then again with out your computer u would not have found tbn. so it just comes down to tracctor when u can and computer after that.hmmm? now if kubota just made a model with a computer as option.

LOL Ya when it's 90+ degrees and 98% Humidity I wish for cool and now I can't wait to be on the tractor again trying to re-landscape my property after all this construction. Mud is a *****. I hate it! Being in a wheelchair is tough in mud. Ya can't just wipe your feet like "uprights" do. Dang wheels gotta be washed and wiped down before you go inside. So I got a outside chair and an inside chair - but the trouble is with the dogs - they could care less about staying out of mud and the condition of the carpet in the house. LOL I used to have a "hillbilly" friend. He always would say - Don't bother wiping your feet off - the dogs never do! His house was a hoot!
