Probalby wasn't cooked correctly. When I had them, it was tastey. I buy squid and octopus in a can at the oriental food store across the street instead of sardines once in a while. Its good, but a little salty. And the little beaks go CRUNCH once in a while.

Moss, the octopus was pickled if I remember correctly...it was in a high end restaurant and it was an appetizer...the squid...was lightly breaded and just out of the fryer and handed out in front of a restaurant as a sample in Savannah , GA. - I have not any of either since....I love Sardines, pickled and creamed Herring, smoked Kippers and herring in mustard sauce...all good stuff as well as all other seafood..just not squid or octopus..by the way the octopus I ate had the little suction cups on the rubbery legs...Yuk....I don't want to eat anything with a face or suction cups...LOL

I've had calamari; not bad, but while the squid and octopus I've eaten wasn't bad, it wasn't good enough for me to order it again; too many other things that I like more. I'm about the same way with oysters. I've eaten quite a few raw ones, used to be more fond of fried ones, oyster stew wasn't bad, etc., but I never order then anymore; just too many other things I like more.

Yeesh, I'm not a fan of octopus or squid, just not my style. I do like real Japanese sushi though, so go figure.

I was thinking of this thread and I recalled I used to sell a dog food called "ROMAR horsemeat" in the 1980's. Man we sold a ton of that dog food (it came in a 15 oz can). Now I mention it and people get all squishy faced thinking it would be distasteful.

I haven't eaten horse, but I would try it. At the risk of being voted off the island I am not a big meat eater. Oh I do love beef and chicken cooked right, but only eat it once in a while. (OK, now I'm out of the closet as a veggie guy, take your best shots!!!)....

Jimmy, I'm the opposite; really like meats of nearly all kinds and have meat with most meals. However, my wife and I do really enjoy a vegetable dinner without meat every once in awhile. Certainly nothing wrong with that.
