Hot PTO shaft

hello Birdman?!

well, in first place , how old are that shaft ?
if new, it can have defects on build in the industry, so the pieces can be too tight and it warms up.
if old, not very usual.

check with other implements like other persons here said, after verifying the fluids of the tractor.

slowzuki... Thanks that was what I was wanting to hear. I have never worked the tractor that hard before and was just not aware of how hot the shaft would become.
Thanks everyone for the input. I think I can safely say that this was just normal. I will still be a little cautious next time I bale, but for now I will stop worrying.

To add to that.. i can tell you that after hogging 10ac.. the pto shafts on my 10' and 15' mowers are very warm to the touch, and the yoke and pto stub on the tractor(s) are hot.

As another followup, on a hot day be very careful touching hydraulic lines and the castings on the tractor after working it hard! Loader lines and ps return lines can be especially hot and you can burn yourself.
