All of the manufactures have kinda lousy paint, so if a machine has been outside for a few years, it probably looks rough. Check to see if the loader was well greased and if the pins and bushings are worn (lots of slop). If the loader was well greased and its fairly tight, it was probably well taken care of mechanically. Check to see if the filters have been replaced recently, look at the fuel bowl for sediment, etc. Obviously look at the fluid conditions, HST / hydraulic fluid would be my primary focus. If it looks to be maintained, but has faded scratched paint, I'd say its a good deal. Its basically 1/2 the price of a new one and can't be very old.

The engines are Yanmars and I think the HST is as well. Pretty tough little tractors. My 770 was a Yanmar built tractor and was bullet proof.

My 4720 had a slipping PTO clutch and there were several minor hydraulic leaks. It was also ready for a 500 hour service, I dropped $3500 at the dealer. Thankfully they didn't need to split the case to fix the PTO.
