House Color & Cluster Flies, Box elder Bugs etc.

[My Gym]

I purchased an farm with an 110 year old house. I put siding on the house. Since in eastern Nebraska there are more cooling days than heating, I chose white siding. It seems that the bright white siding attracts box elder and cluster flies. I have researched the problems and have not read anything about color or specifically white attracting insects. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this.

I dont think it matters that much.spray your eves and siding whenit starts to get cold.

The temperature has been over 65 for the past few days and the exterior of my house is buzzing. Flies about every 4 square inches. Flies are on my white house white truck and not on other structures and cars.

I read an article about painting the ceilings a light "sky Blue" to keep flies out but wife wouldn't have it. Supposedly the sky blue retards flies from landing on it since they think it is open air. Perhaps this color on exterior would do the same thing.

my vinyl siding would be described as light blue grey......and I get tons of cluster flies...........they then in the fall end up under the vinyl siding between the housewrap and the vinyl siding (they use the drain holes and the seams to get under it) ........then random times depending on how the sun hits the siding and moisture, the brown condensation moisture (made brown by dead flies) will leak back out the drain holes in vinyl siding........leaving brown drip stains that eventually wash off with the rain in spring ...........repeats each fall winter season
