Vin,
sounds like you have really thought this through. I am sure it will bring you endless hours of fun and great memories to cherish.
It would be great if you could continue to post pics as work progresses.

Chris,

The size was determined by 2 factors 1st the area i had to build it in and 2nd the size of my pocket (Its not quite as big as a texans)................

As for the voltage here a lot go for 24volt and run most things like lights etc on 24volt..........i basically understand how the smaller the volt the greater % drop you get where there is any resistance. The problem is once again the cost. At the end it all boils back to the fact it is only a weekender.

This houseboat is only small in comparison to lots however there is pontoon length limits here 20mts (65ft) and anything bigger you need a captain's licence.................

I will look into those gen sets and see if they are available here, but i have never heard of them..........

That toilet flushing thing is strange indeed.........

Don,

How big are your golf sticks, and i guess you have big golf scores to /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif...........

Steve,

I am getting a little excited about it and yes i am a little proud of myself, but i must keep my feet on the ground its not floating yet. I would hate to have a bigger fish reef than a Texans /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.............

Mark,

I will keep posting pics right up till it is going in the water, I may have to stop at that point but i hope not. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Vin,

The house boat looks great and BIG too! It appears so BIG on my monitor that I have to scroll back and forth just to see the entire boat.

Keep up the good work. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Standard Moderator Message 102 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Inline pictures should be 640 x 480 so people do not have to scroll left and right to see them.

What is rule 102, down sizing takes away from these particular photo's. To really appreciate these photos they need to be large. If thats the rules so be it, but i am not happy /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Posting a link to the picture or posting them as an attachment, instead of an inline picture, are always options. Links to pictures allows pictures to be as large as you want, attachments are limited to 100k.

Nice,

I happen to have a few years of houseboating under my belt. It looks like a nice boat and has been well planned. As a houseboater, here are a few comments.

If you add the generator you may as well add an inverter. The inverter would let you charge a bank of batteries of the gernerator, probably could tie into the solar deal if you find it doesnt provide a long or strong enough charge.

Swim platform - That rear deck is nice. I presume the engine is that center compartment. Make sure that you run exhaust lines all the way out from under the deck. There have been fatalties because of the exhaust being trapped under there. Typically it generator realted, but I would go safe and force it our from under there.

Look into LED's. There are some really good ones out now. I have several night lights that are a high intensity LED wired to a 24 volt battery. They last a few months per battery...

Make sure your battery bank is easy to get to. There is no bigger pain than having to check your batteries at odd angles.

Those seem to be the biggest deal everytime somebody on the dock starts looking at a boat.

Goood luck!!

WOW! I'm gone for a month, and you've almost finished this beauty! Fantastic!

I have one question for you, however. Where is the hot tub going to go? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
