Vin,

Does the inverter convert battery power to 110 so you can plug appliances in?

Bob,

Yes, but in this case 12volt to 240. 240 volt is our standard in oz. This particular inverter has many functions, it is capable of detecting when the gen set is running and then will divert some power back to the batteries to charge them. It is also capable of starting the gen set when batteries get low.

BTW the inverter is made in America.

Vin,
When you mention 240v, is a full 240v typically used, or is only one leg used?

We run 220v. Our electric range runs on it, my compresser, ect.
Most lights around the house, the blender, mixer, vegetable steamer ect, run on 110v. The 110 is one leg of the 220V.

I would guess the same is true Down Under?

Robert,

All domestic wireing is 240 volts, our typical system is red+and black- wires with an earth wire (Green).

BTW I hope to launch the houseboat in 10 weeks i am starting to get a nerves about moving it but i supose that is only natural
