IT,
I think this is a good idea. Is this the place for it, or maybe over on the Kioti only webpage. .

I don't know. I wish TBN would establish some sort of user controlled or group controlled sticky or "wiki" type function as it is frustrating to have great tips scroll off the screen never to be found again (without lots of searching anyways).

I started to add the Maintenance Guide to the KiotiClub site.

Help adding tot he guide would be appreciated!

Hey IslandTractor, Just how do you "unload" the axle? Thought I had a stopped up fitting @ the pivot point on my CK20 axle. Do you jack up the frame & let the axle "hang" or what?
Thanks

Use the FEL to lift the front wheels just a bit. Really you just need to take weight off the axle so the tires don't actually need to come off the ground but that is a good visual indicator that you have "unloaded" the axle. Once you've done it you will see that even a very small "push down" with the FEL will change the attitude of the front axle and that is usually enough. You don't actually want to raise the front wheels, ideally you just lift the front just enough to unweight it or lighten it so there is no binding or obstruction at the zerk site.

That will make it much easier to grease the zerks on the front axle.

The safety police would come get me if I didn't also point out that you don't want to be crawling around under the tractor while it is even partially suspended by the FEL. Shut the engine off. Stick a couple of appropriate sized jack stands or other stable blocks under the axle before you put any body parts in harms way. And, make sure the brakes are on and ideally the rears tires are blocked and cannot roll (although that is very unlikely to happen with the FEL bucket firmly in contact with the ground).

I know this is an old thread but as CarNut has reactivated it I figure I'll add a tip based on experience acquired recently:

When doing routine greasing make sure you check for loose or missing nuts and bolts. And, don't forget to do that on implements as well as the tractor. I was about to demo my flail mower to TBN member Charlesaf3 yesterday when he saw that one of the Cat 1 pins had lost its nut/lockwasher. I looked more closely and saw that not only was that gone but that the vibration had also caused the loss of one and loosening of another of the bolts that hold the 3PT topping lift "bridge" to the mower.

There are lots of nuts and bolts that can vibrate loose on tractors and implements. I have always checked pretty carefully for loose nuts on the tractor itself during oil changes but haven't paid much attention to implements (until now).

Torque it or lose it.:)

Thanks Guys! PS Anybody have a list of Napa filters [or others] that will interchange with the CK20? Need to change oil asap & no dealer close by.

I get mine from Wallace Tractor via UPS. Easy cheap and fast.
