How big is your garden and how many tomato plants?

We go to the tomato fields every year. They have gone up to $9 a five gallon bucket this year, but still a good price.

Larro, That is a good looking garden. We have had so much rain many of the farmers in the area have melons rotting in the field. I did not plant any cantaloup type melons this year but did plant a couple of rows of water melon.

NC has a daily link for current Farmers Market Prices. Any one have something similar in their state?

We had 18 days of rain, then 3 days of sun. Now the rain is back through the weekend at least. If my melons hadn't been so late, they would be blowing up right now. Before all the rain we were able to pick the peppers every other day. We can't do that now. They are growing so fast they have to be picked every day.

We go to the tomato fields every year. They have gone up to $9 a five gallon bucket this year, but still a good price. We make salsa and all that, but you never use as many as you pick. Once in a while, when I didn't want to deal with our hyper chocolate lab, I would throw the bad ones out the front door into the flowerbed. Our flowerbed tomatoes always looked better than the ones in the garden.

Our dogs started coming in with tomato and green pepper breath a couple years ago so we had to put up a five ft high cattle panel fence around the garden to keep them out. They weren't happy. If we let them they would eat tomatoes all day every day.

So if I am reading this correctly greenbeans are going for $5.00 per lb :shocked:

I'd be willing to say that is a premium price probably because of all the poor weather we've had for weeks and weeks here in Vermont

Just read thru the VVBGA field reports. Growers have had it pretty rough this season

At our greenhouse/farm store/ and farmer market stand corn is $6 dz and tomatoes are $2.99lb right now

And we get $10 ea. for the potted weeds

There are a few folks down here in Florida making good money growing weed, but I don't think they do as well as you. I know they are not as open about it.

Well, it's still pre-season in Vermont and there were only 3 transactions. Thin market, limited supply and yeah, the price is right. The perils of a thinly traded item in an auction market. Show up with five truckloads and I'll bet the last batch goes pretty cheap.

Actually, the $5 seems to be an average of the $4 low and $6 high.

Whoohoo just got back from watering all my flowers and the weeds too! ;)

Cripes I planted green beans 3 times this spring...finally the last batch took and are all in flower right now. Didnt see any organically grown beans listed either...that price report was pretty limited considering there are lots of farmers market thruout the state.

Usually the farmers market is flooded with yellow squash during the first week or two in July, then everyone has green beans all at once it seems generally this week or next. And a decent grower can have some field picked tomatoes by the first week of August around here too. Greenhouse owner squawked like a hen last week when at their farmer's market another vendor undercut her price on tomatoes by a $1.00 a lb

I picked a few cukes plus some cherry tomatoes today.

Thanks for the help guys The plant with the rot is in the middle of the row the ones on either side look good, is there something I should do with them? Thanks DFB this plant comes up every year scattered all over the garden, I have never seen it anywhere else. This thing comes up even in the worst growing conditions and keeps coming back. Thanks for the link I would never have dreamed what all it is used for!
