Rotary Cutter how big of a rotary do a need for my kubota 7040su

i have an 7040su fel 1153la 4x4 loaded rear tires cast center wieghts how big of a rotary cutter can i run im looking to mow mostly high grass n weeds some brush from time to time and how much does my tractor weigh i figured 6600ibs i could be wrong

The tractor has 62 HP at the PTO. You can choose your rotary cutter based on that number since manufacturers usually use HP to rate their mowers. In thick brush or heavy brush you would want a smaller mower.

I run an 8' Landpride with mine and it just purrs along with grass as high as the rear wheels.

You are in the ballpark with the weight of tractor plus FEL. The cast wheels and loaded tires may add a bit more. It should trailer well if that is the reason you are wondering. There are usually private scales in most areas so you could weigh the tractor loaded on a trailer and then go back for the tare weight. That would tell you exactly what it weighs (depending on the amount of diesel in the tank).

i backed it on my 20 foot 10k trailer hook to my 3500hd srw the front end was a bit light im going to try to back it on i pulled heavier then that with truck i might wiegh 7000ibs the truck worked up the hills a gasser in it 4.11 gears

you can pull an 8ft or 10ft heavy duty shredder with the 7040.the fel gives you plenty of weight on the front end.

I have the same tractor. I believe the bare tractor weighs around 4600. The cast weights add around 350 each (700 total), bringing you to 5300. Plus the loader is around 2000lbs with bucket and everything, so you're around 7300. Plus the weight of the loaded tires, which with just water would add around 600lbs a piece (1200 total). Since you probably have some sort of brine solution in there, it would be a bit more. That would bring you to 8500lbs.

Forgot to mention, I've seen posts with people pulling 15ft cutters behind this tractor and similar sized tractors. Probably have to go a bit slow, but it can be done.

my dealer told me an 8 ft 3pt or 10-12 pull type i guess 12 would be a batwing i never used a brush hog this will be my first one i tilled and plowed before i dont wanta go to big to stress the tractor when i get the hooks welded on bucket i will pull acrossed the scale then i will see what tractor wieghts thanks for the replys

No doubt you could pull a 10ft hog, i've done it with my 48 hp Massey through 2 foot high grass and weeds. Had to go down 1 gear. The question is it worth the expense of a batwing type mower? Think I'd go with a fixed 8.
