KevinG, you are my hero with the .50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just bought a new Armalite AR10A4 flattop over the weekend. I can get them cheaper in FL than in AL. I put the GG&G flip up iron sights on the rails and an Trijicon ACOG TA11 is next. Of course it'll take a few months to recover from the $damage$.

Already have a Colt AR15A2 with iron sights. Wanted to keep that one "simple".

I'll post pics when I get back to Alabama.

I highly recommend adding one to your collection. The value is only going to go up. Kalifornia has already banned them. The political climate these days are looking for a scapegoat. I suspect that someday these will be a Class III item or they will "ban the manufacturing of". Buying now, while reasonable, $2300 or so, will prove to be a great investment, not to mention a heavy duty plinker. Oh yeah, buy all the ammo you can too. I'm pretty sure it's not going to get any cheaper...

One of a couple sentimental favorites.

Long story short, gun was left to me by my uncle (who since died some time ago), who used to take me out shooting growing up as a child when my father was away overseas.

Gun is older than myself, and honestly, have never found another firearm that could shoot better at 50yards.

Nothing but fun shooting it, and it always reminds me of a time growing up with my uncle that puts a smile on my face. That is what I forgot some time ago what shooting with family is all about.

Very NICE! I love that scope, 10x?

I hope my grandkids will say the same about the guns they will inherit from me someday...

Unertyl, Lyman Super Targetspot scope. My understanding is that the tubes could be changed for magnification. I honestly guess around 15X to 20X, never in a hurry to find out.

I still remember my uncle and father kicking me in the butt so hard that I cried because I did something wrong using my grandfathers shotgun. I've long forgotten what action I incorrectly took (and so has my father), but instead of crying now, it always puts a smile on my face thinking about it.

My grandfather who came over in a boat in Lithuania (sp?) had that cheap 16 gauge single barrel shotgun that he let his sons use, and in return, was the first shotgun I've ever shot. Might be worth about $30 now, but it's sitting up in my dads attic and when I get that gun, it will be priceless in my house.

When and if I have children (hey, I got married late in life) I can only hope to have my children shoot that same gun:)

We should have a thread about special memories with guns and why.

Funny, in todays society guns seemed to be feared by the "average" person who have never owned or shot guns.

I've got a 513-S, the sport version of that gun. My Dad gave it to me. Really nice .22 and its in great condition. The trigger pull is a bit heavy, but its still amazingly accurate. It is a full size gun as big as any of my deer rifles. Probably the nicest gun I have. I'm not a gun nut but I've got quite a few. Nothing nice though, just the kinds of things I need to get the job done for the various types of hunting I do.

Another nice gun my Dad gave me is a break-top H&R, 9 shot, .22 revolver target pistol in pristine shape. It is also a tac driver and loads of fun. Beautiful to look at too.

Something I found out a long time ago. You can spend $20,000 or $300 and still put the bullet in the exact same spot at 300 yards.

Nice to know that I'm not the only one who thinks that 513 is a HEAVY gun (your the first person I've come across who has another 513).

KevinG,
I'd like to be able to justify the expense with the war department (wife), but I don't think she'd fall for it.:(

I saw a Barrett while in Jacksonville this past weekend, only 9k with the scope. I could handle a couple grand, but not 9k!!!

Heard the rounds are anywhere from 3-6bucks a "pop". I couldn't afford to "plink" much with that!

I'm with you on buying up the ammo and such...I received an email advising me of some XM193 Lake City 5.56 surplus rounds for sale recently, by the time I got to the site, there were only 3k rounds left. I bought another thousand rounds for my "Armageddon Box"...haha. Didn't tell the war dept. hope she isn't "digging around" up there while I'm gone! ;) I'll have some explaining to do!

Most people don't realize how serious the liberals are about can-x-ing our gun rights! Like you, I feel strongly that in the near future the .50 and A LOT of others on the H.R. 1022 list will be gone forever. If you don't own one, you WON'T be able to get one, at least not legally.

As far as online ammo goes, well....it's gonna go to. In the not too distant future, you won't be able to buy ammo on line. That's my justification to buy/horde as much as I can now. My wife agrees, thus, she doesn't give me much "flack" about the ammo purchases I make. As for the AR10, I just bought, she can't understand my logic. She says I have enough and can't possibly shoot them all now, so why do I need more. I remind her of her "shoe" collection and the analogy...she stops the debate!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) ;) ;)

I also feel the same way about the CCW's. Once the lib's gain FULL control of the Whitehouse, it's just a matter of time before they say no more new CCW's issued...so I keep current so I'm "IN BEFORE THE LOCKDOWN".

Most won't agree with my rationale, but hey, it's all good. Dissent makes the world go round!

Happy shooting to all of you...I can't wait to get back home so I can post some pics of my new plinker.

Podunk.

Podunk,

I think your situation is like a lot of others. My wife likes to shoot too and she get's a kick out of additions to the collection.

The ammo is actually about a 1.50 per round if you do some looking. This is for ball ammo reloaded from military surplus. This is certainly not match ammo but works great for plinking or busting rocks!

If you run out of ammo...you're out of the fight...

I am a HUGE firearms safety advocate (not trigger locks) and I quite often take my son's friends (with their parent's permission or involvement) to the range and teach them about firearms and their safe handling. These kids always come away with a new found respect for firearms.

I am concerned about the future of our 2nd Amendment Rights.
