Unless it’s under $10000. Even then all you need to do is disclose.

Even a certified check can be faked. Your bank will accept it in good faith and provide the funds to you but several days later it will come back and you'll be on the hook with your bank.

The surest thing is to go to the check writer's bank with them to cash their check on the spot. If you don't want to carry all that cash out of the bank you can ask them to give you a bank certified check for the funds.

I've been pulled over a lot over the years in many different jurisdictions. Mostly due to my lead foot. I cannot imagine a traffic stop scenario where an officer sees my cash, much less has cause to search my vehicle. Ok, maybe DUI/DWI , but if you are doing that, you have bigger issues than worrying about cash being confiscated by a cop. In the highly unlikely event of an illegal seizure of my cash, I would get more in settlement from the state than I would have lost. Remember, there is no law against carrying cash...unless you are crossing national borders.

continue to research and you will be shocked to discover that only 2 court cases have been overturned by judges. You will also discover this is a billion $ fundraising business for law enforcement.
Search YouTube for endless testimony of law enforcement’s abuse of these laws! This has been going on for many years! Many have their entire retirements confiscated because they were accused of being drug dealers.

You know, the conversation about forfeiture, got me thinking, I always carry large sums of money on me, I pay cash most of the time. I also guess I need to find a better hiding place than my mattress. Now I'm more worried about cops knowing how much money I have on hand than I am thieves.

Agree Qualified Immunity is a huge problem.

Immunity for the cops is a problem and so is the protections polaticians have granted themselves. They also knowingly make stupid decisions and never seem to have to pay the price.
