How can I lift a baseball field drag mat???

Punxybill - Could you use a 3PH carryall or pallet forks to simply lift the drag mat? I was thinking you could lower the carryall arms to the ground and back up the tractor. This would cause the mat to be "scooped" up onto the arms for transport. Drop the arms and as you pull forward, the mat will drag itself off the arms to be used in your next field.

Champy, that looks like the carry-all from TSC (Farm-Pro). I intend on getting one and chaining my drag link harrow to it, so the harrow will aready be in postition to drag, and will make it easier to hook up and get it to the field without dragging on the driveway. Maybe punxybill could do something similar for his mat?

Looks like the carry-all will work. I would add to the length of the arms, add some support and then hang the mat with short chains. Lots of good ideas. Thanks.

I don't want to use the 3ph.
I'm looking for ideas on how to do it using the FEL and or the BH.

Build a box frame as described above to attach to drag. Attach frame to FEL bucket lip with clamps similar to clamp on forks.

For BH, use same box frame and build a bracket (copy the back of your BH bucket) which pins on instead of the BH bucket

You could make the FEL and BH brackets attach to box frame with a bolt on plate so you could swap method of attachment for the same frame.

New here so if I am in the wrong area let me know. Anyway I am looking to be able to lift a 6'x6' drag mat that is used on a ball field. I want to use the 3pt.hitch to lift it (from the seat).

Here's what I rigged up for a home-made drag....

I know you said that you wanted to use the 3pt hitch, but do you have a front end loader? If so, you can attach it to your FEL (I used C-clamps). Raise up the FEL to where the mat is off the ground, drive to where you want to smooth, start slowly backing up while lowering the FEL. I have tried this and it works well.

If you could not roll it onto the carryall, I would think you could also back up with the carryall over it, and take a couple of S hooks and hook it into the bottom of the carryall, lift it and drive off.
