How can i tell if an old Ford has Live PTO over the internet???

There are NAA's that have Live PTO, I had one,
so keep them in mind, they are a good size
tractor, way better than the 8/9n.

That NAA LPTO was a dealer installed option. I did a few of them back in the day. We sold 2 of the kits a couple months ago at our liquidation auction.

for the record...i know what live PTO is.
...but i'm looking to buy an old ford, anything from an NAA (which would rarely have live pto from what i've read) up to the late 60's models, and i'm finding ads whereby the seller is indicating that they have live PTO. problem is, i'm going to have to drive a pretty good clip to see the tractor(s) and would like to know absolutely for sure that they do have live PTO. and it seems that some sellers seem to confuse this with live hydraulics.
so how do i know for sure if these tractors have live PTO, short of actually seeing and testing the tractor myself??? what questions should i ask? any particular pics to ask for? are there any special levers on these tractors ( i saw an ad on ebay for a jubilee with live pto and a "special lever" that was photographed on the left side of the transmission ).

and can someone confirm for me the easiest way to test for live PTO once i'm there looking at the tractor. i think i know how to do it, but would certainly appreciate some confirmation on this.

by the way, if anybody knows of a good tractor that meets the above specs, please let me know. i'm in cincinnati, ohio.

4 speed tranny except NAA will NOT have live PTO. 5 speed tranny MIGHT have live PTO. 8 speed tranny MIGHT have live or Ind PTO. If any other tranny has PTO it will not be live or ind. It will be conventional. Clear?

4spd tranny in an 8N can have a similar pinion clutch setup that the NAA did. difference is it is a mechanical lever throw style. not a hydraulic one. I have seen at least 2 types of pinion clutches for the 8n.. .. I have also seen a well done, but impracticle axle clutch for an 8n that did the same thing a pinion clutch does, and thus allows for psuedo live pto. that said.. i don't see why that pinion clutch would not fit in a 9n, 2n, or the smaller Tx20 fergy as well. they all use a similar torque coupling tube that the pinion clutch replaces.

also not mentioned.. the much misunderstood and not very well liked ( for some good reasons too! ) SOS 10spd powershift tranny.. that will be ind pto.. etc.

Yeah, soundguy, I forgot the beloved Selec-to-speed 10 speed trans.
Also, old as I am I never saw or heard of LPTO in an 8N. Is there someplace on the 'net where I could see it?

search around and you can find them.. they are exceedingly rare as is the lpto kit for the naa.

both are simple pinion tube replacements that add either a mechanical or hyd clutch pack in place of the solid splined tube from trans to pinion. 8n is mechaincal.. naa is hyd..
