How can I test pumop pressure without valve?

Thanks for the clarification. I agree that I will get my best performance from a hydraulic pump. Based on my understanding from this thread, I feel comfortable ordering my controller and hydraulic lines and moving forward with the build. I'm a long way from putting things together and trying to lift a load.

This is the information I will need when the time comes.

Hyd pressure is developed when you restrict the flow such as extending a cyl with load, or using a hyd motor doing work.

To lift an empty bucket you only need several hundred lbs of pressure , but to lift a load, may take all the pressure the pump can develop, and you need a relief valve to keep the pump from over pressurizing the system, and maybe blowing the pump.
