I should’ve asked Siri before I posted my last post, she just confirmed US 20 is the longest US highway

US 6 is only 30 miles shorter at 3,207 miles.

I see recommendations to always buy from a “Local” dealer. How close are you to your local dealer? I am rural. The closet dealers to me is a Green dealer and an Orange dealer, they are 98 miles away. My tractor is a CNH and the closest dealer is 161 miles away.

How local is “local”?
Kubota and JD about 45 miles away and Mahindra about 55 miles. CNH about 150 miles away. Nothing else less than 250 miles.

There are NO Hurlimann dealers ANYWHERE in America that I have found. BUT

Not so many years ago I got useful parts service through the D-F network. They are only a phone call away. ;-)

Mahindra---36 miles to the nearest dealer, 75 miles to the nearest dealer with a mechanic that knows what he is doing.

That’s a name I do not think I’ve ever noticed before so I googled it…

Nice looking tractor, and some 4 wheel drive before 4 wheel was cool!

My local dealers (within 5 miles) closed in the 70’s and 80’s as farming for a living took its last gasps in my town. Now have to drive 20-25 miles. Not terrible. They will deliver anything to me for $15.

We had an International Harvester dealership, served by rail, right in my village. That was really cool as a kid seeing new red Internationals show up on rail cars. I remember one day when a 5288 showed up. Gleaming red with a cab. I remember it was the first tractor ever touted to have a on board computer.

We also had a Ford/New Holland dealer that spent its’ last years as a Volvo dealer. The owner was a man in my neighborhood. A good family guy.

Cool days of a bygone era.

Now the IH dealership is a HVAC company. The rails are torn up and gone. The sales yard stone lot is now covered with 50 foot junk trees :(

The New Holland dealer is now a tire store.

Waiting for the first Chinese construction equipment dealer to arrive. That’ll be a big reason for celebration.

Before TYM and Branson merged, I had a TYM dealer and a TYM importer, along with a Branson/Case dealer (mine) and a Branson importer.

After the merge, I have two TYM dealers and two TYM importers. All within 15 miles.

There are plenty of other brands within 25 miles of me.
