good compacted gravel base, 4500# fibermesh concrete, cure it, cut it and you will never have a problem

And make sure YOU get the weighmasters ticket from the truck driver to assure the proper mix was sent BEFORE they start the placement. If it's not the correct mix, send it back.

Ask the supplier to put in 2-4% entrained air and use sulfate resistant cement with a 4500-5000 PSI compressive strength mix with max water cement ratio of .41 and it should be good to go. A 4-6" slump will make it fairly easy to work. Hire someone to help place it that knows what to do and has the equipment needed to level, screed and finish it. It take minimum of 3 people to place concrete, more is better.

That is the only way to meet ACI specs for making a test cylinder. Rod diameter has to be per ACI with a round point and smooth surface, exactly the same number of rods per layer(30 IIRC), minimum of 3 layers and rodding penetrants at least halfway into previous layer. I did ACI certification test about 30 years ago, but have had test lab technicians on the job to do it for me for over 2.5 decades and my memory isn't always accurate(been a Quality Manager for 25 years so I had technicians and inspectors to do the actual work)

Actually ASTM C31 does now state that you may use a vibrator to consolidate your test specimens.

Oh and I wasn't trying to be an *** with that statement, I just took the ACI recert in December and found that out then myself. They also call for hand rodding with a 5/8" +/-1/16" round hemispherical tip rod now 4" longer than the specimen mold height no longer than 24"...I ate, slept and dreamed that stuff while studying for the recert...lol:thumbsup:

Reminds me of the sub-contractors on my projects that boast they have "20 years of experience". Turns out that most of the boasters have 1 years experience 20 times over! ...and they didn't learn much that year. :laughing:

I saw a guy's ads once that boasted 35 years experience at his craft when the technology used was only 25 years old and he was only 45 years old. What, a 10 year old genius with a time machine? Red flags for me so I bought elsewhere and in a few years he was out of biz and assets on the block.
