My dad was a commercial fisherman and in that business you did you own repairs.
One day back in the mid 60's( I was about 10) we went to Montgomery Wards and dad bought a welder to build his own conveyor for the boat.
Soon thereafter a curious kid took the little cheepie welding shield ( the one that came with it ,no headgear just a stick to hold the shield and lens) and watched my dad weld.
It wasn't long before I was burning holes in steel on my own.
I will be 56 tomorrow and dads been gone 6 years but I still have and use that welder.
