How do I 'float' the scv(FEL) on my JD2320?

On a previous thread, you guys advised me to 'float' the 3ph by moving the rockshaft control lever full forwards. I haven't tested that because I now have my BH on and I'm reluctant to take it off because it was so difficult to attach. but I think that you're right.

On another thread on backfilling there was talk of floating the FEL so I decided to check my manual.The JD operators manual for the 200x/cx advises the operator to float the loader in three places, but it doesn't say how to do this.

So how do I float the FEL?

To answer my own question using the operator's manual for the 2320 I quote "Move the lever to the full forward or 'float' position to remove pressure in both connector lines ..."

Fine, except that when I tried that it lifted both front wheels off the ground. I don't think that's 'float' as I understand it. What am I doing wrong?

push the lever past the detent when it starts lifting your front wheels. it's their because i had the same concern.

This is easiest to get the feel for when the machine is not running. Push the lever forward until you feel a stop. This is the position you use to lower the bucket. From here, "pop" the lever forward just past this first stop. This is the float position. Once you can feel it with the machine stopped, go ahead turn the engine on, bring up the RPMs and raise the bucket. Move the lever forward to lower the bucket. When the bucket contacts the ground and just before you feel the front end of the tractor lift off the ground, "pop" the lever into the float position.
