It's similar. Forward for 1st, back for second and i can't remember if it's down and forward or backward for 3rd, never used it.

does it have the over-run clutch adaptor? if not, it needs to have one otherwise it can be a bit tricky getting started and stopped,

Its just like the Ym2000 carey. It should be right at your left heel when sitting on the seat. Have the clutch in and push that lever all the way down till it engages, sometimes it kind of hangs inbetween and i have to barely let out the clutch while pushing to engage the lever. Your off to go.
This also assumes that a shear pin on the bush hog dive shaft has not sheared. But i think you just forgot which lever you need.
The two levers between your legs are high (H) / low (L) selector and the actual gear number for the middle one.
