How do I get the diesl exhaust stains off my 2210?

I have a one year old JD2210 with 200CX front end loader, which I love dearly. Unfortunately, I can NOT remove the diesl exhaust stains on the bucket and FEL lift arms with either soap and water or a high pressure washer.

Any insight from experienced owners would be appreciated.

I personally use a good quality degreaser, or something like Simple Green, diluted in some water to remove these. I have never let the diesel residue get very thick, though. If you use a strong solvent, it can fade the paint on the painted surfaces, but to me that is less noticeable than black soot residue. I have not had a problem when using these products getting off exhaust residue, but as I mentioned I clean my tractor probably too often, so I am not sure how well it will help if the staining is thick.

I've got some pretty decent buildup on the front left part of my loader frame as well (whoever thought of underhood exhausts for tractors needs to be slapped /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif )

I've tried Simple Green and it did get some of it off, or at least thinned it down a bit. I suspect SG, along with a scrub brush and a bit of elbow grease would get it all. I just haven't bothered to put that much effort into it.

Try S100 Motorcycle Cleaner. It works.

Another approach is to direct the exhaust away ahead of time--a 45 or 90 degree copper elbow will fit directly on the exhaust pipe and you can then direct in whatever direction you want /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You need to apply some paint....that's ugly.

I had good luck with simple green straight, undiluted.

The way that I look at it the exhaust stains are like the grass stains on a football player's uniform. It shows that action has been seen as opposed to sitting on the bench (staying in the barn).
