Why?: The lever at the base of the column allowing tilt doesn't grip and release properly and won't lock the column. The telescopic feature has the same prob. with the knob in the center of the wheel not releasing or locking.
I think this is related to freeze/thaw of water trapped in the column 'cuz the original (bad) dealer left the tractor out for a couple of Winters without the seat folded down to cover the wheel. Nobody at TBN warned me.
Anyway it's too tricky to pull up and back on the wheel while I'm riding the tractor and such distractions could make an accident.
My current (good) dealer told me I need an entire new steering column.
My TC Tractor Repair Manual only shows components below the column.
I'm still waiting for parts so the road mechanic can come do the hydraulic repairs, and am trying to do as much of the other stuff as I can myself.
Has anybody done this or does anyone know where the repair drawings are?
