How do i remove anti-freeze

My rear tire has a flat it has anti freeze in it the tire repair shop tells me i need to remove the liquid from the tire before he will patch the tire,Whats the best way to get the liquid out if the tire with the tire still on the tractor.

Jack the tractor up. Place the puncture hole facing down over a drip pan. Use air pressure to make the anti-freeze come out of the puncture hole. Viola, your problem is solved.

If you have a "normal" sized puncture, why not fix it yourself? Large auto parts houses and farm stores carry puncture repair tools. They have a "T" handle and a large sewing needle eye. You put the tire hole up, clean the hole, prep it and push in a thing that looks like a dog's chew toy. Done.

A better repair would be to dismount the tire and patch the inside, but this will work and last a long time. It's what tire shops do when you drive over a nail.

john, tire plugs as you mentioned will not work if the tire has a tube, as many tractor tires do. also, i dont know about your but i have found that plugs dont hold up real good in offroad tires, maybe just my bad luck. but its not that hard to put a patch on the inside once the antifreeze is out. i would just patch it myself if it were me, the tire shops usualy dont use anything more than a pair of tire irons to break down tractor tires, unless there small tractor tires that will fit on a tire machine

I just had a rear tire fixed and the tire guy put air in the tire, drove the tractor so the valve was at the bottom and then removed the valve and it shot out till the tire was flat. Place big tubs in line of fire to catch what you can. The only other method is to use a vacuum pump. Look at Gemplers sight, which shows how to fix a tractor tire.

I had a pair of rear tire flats, (no good deed goes unpunished, I picked up some nails helping a neighbor), fixed by a mobile service 2 years ago, $150 and that included new tubes and 10 - 20#'s of CaCl. He pumped the tires out, in and out in under 90 minutes. $50 was for mileage for the house call.

thanks for the tips guys what t did was jack up the tractor get the valve steam at 12:00 clock unscrew needle let the air out the i put a long piece of poly tube onto steam spin wheel to 6:00 drained into buckets let jack down pushing more fluid into the buckets, then air tire back up drove to tire shop.

True, many tractor tires have tubes. BUT (ain't there always a but?) usually when the fill is with antifreeze or windshield wiper fluid, they don't put in a tube. Saves money and those fluids won't corrode the wheel like CaCl2 will. Also, from what I've been seeing many new tractors don't come with tubes anymore, they just count on the rim sealing.

Yeah, a plug won't hold up forever on a tractor, but it will probably get you by until the season slows down and you can do the repair on your schedule.
